Late left foot gear change matching numbers Jota 180.

A late 1980 manufacture ’81 model Jota 180; the Mk2 with uprated generator and this bike fitted with Boyer ignition system.  Matching frame and engine number 7329 arrived in the UK through official Laverda importer; Slater Brothers; from Switzerland in 1993 and has been part of a significant collection of classic motorcycles with the same owner ever since. It had an engine rebuild; rebored with new pistons and rings in 1999 (invoice on file) and hardly been used after that. Just fully recommissioned by Classic Bike Workshop and ready to ride, recent engine work includes a new sprag clutch, rebuilt clutch with new springs, new sprag clutch, valve clearances set, carbs cleaned and rebuilt with new float valves and jets, new oil and filter, plugs of course and various other service items as part of a thorough check-up. A new chain guard has been fitted and there are various bills for parts from Richard Slater at Slaters. The wiring has been renewed wherever age/wear had taken it’s toll and everything is tidy and clean under the seat as you would like to see it. It’s left foot gear change so modern riders take note! First test ride confirms it is a very strong and healthy engine indeed, smoothed by the modern electronic ignition without losing that Jota puch and sweet sweet sound. It pulls really well; needs one of those humpy Jota seats to stop you sliding backwards when you open the throttle. Nice in black but could so easily be orange of course and with a little more attention to some of the details this has the potential to be a truly excellent Jota with manageable road manners. Heavy clutch and throttle are legendary Jota traits and this is no exception, but it is very much part of the experience.
