Cammy Norton 500cc single for your road or race project. 1936 with NOC certificate.

A rare opportunity to buy a genuine 1936 500cc cammy Norton Single for use in whatever project you have in mind. The engine is undamaged externally as you can see, no broken fins, a little relieving of the crankcases around the front engine bolt and some repair work internally but all checked and good to go. The engine has been stripped and inspected so there is good photographic evidence of condition and we are able to report factually on what we have found. Bottom end is good; a little side-to-side on the con-rod but not up-and-down so there is wear but not enough to think about taking a grind on the crank. Piston is +60 and bore is good as you can see. Oldham coupling is tight, bevel gears very good, valves and top end all good. Oil pump looks good, nothing missing as you can see. Very nice BTH magneto but it’s untested. The engine has been assembled loosely with new gaskets but nothing has been tightened so you can get in there and do what you like with it. NOC certificate confirms provenance: despatched to Morgans of Caerphilly on 9th January 1936 for retail purchaser H. Morgan of 48 Brynavon Terrace, Hengoed, Glamorgan on 13th January 1936. Engine number is 63073. Complete with a very nice original GP10 carburettor. A Manx gearbox of similar age will be available if required.
