Norton’s renowned wideline featherbed frame nicely mated with Triumph’s pre-unit Thunderbird engine, refreshingly not a café racer.

This Triton has returned to CSB in exchange for another machine, and it returns in improved condition and specification. This excellent machine combines the best of Norton’s handling with one of Triumph’s winners in the engine department; the single carb Thunderbird twin. The original Norton Dominator 99 was first registered on 1st August 1958, and has since been fitted with a 1960 Thunderbird engine, now breathing through an Amal concentric carburettor. The engine has electronic ignition fitted, starts easily, idles smoothly and pulls cleanly on the road without undue vibration or any trace of smoke from the new chrome exhausts. There is a full DVLA history search on file, along with some old MOT certificates and various receipts for parts. The registration number is age-related; the original was XFD 147. All round excellent condition with stainless fittings and spokes recently fitted to newish chrome rims. Lovely in roadster trim with standard ‘bars, and hardly recognisable as a Triton at first glance.
