BSA A10 Super Rocket
A nicely restored (very good paintwork and chrome all round) 1961 Super Rocket in excellent condition and running well too. The generally good condition of this machine is spoiled by a few top-end oil leaks which are being addressed at Classic Bike Workshop now and a video will follow when the work is done. It is mechanically quiet, well behaved and smoke free. Recently had the ignition and fuelling set to provide easy starting and good road manners, as you will see. So, ignore the lashings of sealant all over the top-end of the engine externals; it’ll be gone and replaced with tidy new gaskets and oil free (did I say that?) cooling fins. This is a slightly older restoration which has stood the test of time; it is very shiny! Comes with a bunch of receipts and paperwork and manuals but it was registered on an age-related plate in 2011 so I guess that dates the restoration. Little used since but has been used regularly and loved as part of a cherished collection of British machines. A VMCC dating letter Serial No 16049 is on file and confirms Frame GA7 11266 and Engine DA10R 3162 are of 1961 manufacture which indicates (but doesn’t actually state) it may be a matching numbers machine. Either way it is a lovely example of BSA’s iconic 650cc twin and whilst it is the absolute opposite of a “barnfind” what it lacks in originality it makes up for in “showability”. It would cost more than this to restore nowadays so it’s a bit of a bargain.
