A championship winning race machine in unrestored condition, sold as is but was a running well when laid up with fluids drained for display years ago. This is the ex Leanardo Becheroni RG500 from 1981, in which year he won the first EU GP500 Championship on this bike. He also won the Italian 500 class in 1983 on this same machine. Sadly Leonardo died in 1983 so he’s no longer around to tell the tale but fine racing machines tell their own story and there are none finer than the iconic RG500 square four stroker that won so many races in this era of motorcycle racing. Frame and engine numbers define it as a mk6 model, factory records don’t tell us the exact production numbers but average over the model years was around 100 per year so it is a rare old thing.
