Suzuki RG500
A championship winning race machine in partly restored condition, sold as is but was reportedly running well when laid up with fluids drained for display years ago. This is the ex Leanardo Becheroni RG500 from 1981, in which year he won the first EU GP500 Championship on this bike. He also won the Italian 500 class in 1983 on this same machine. Sadly Leonardo died in 1983 so he’s no longer around to tell the tale but fine racing machines tell their own story and there are none finer than the iconic RG500 square four stroker that won so many races in this era of motorcycle racing. Frame and engine numbers define it as a matching numbers mk6 model, factory records don’t tell us the exact production numbers but average over the model years was around 100 per year so it is a rare old thing. Now it is here and with a closer look it is clear that the frame has been restored and is in exceptionally good condition. The fairing is a display fit and recently painted too. Wheels look like they have had a blow over as well probably. The engine on the other hand looks like it was raced last week! We haven’t even tried to recommission it and although everything appears to work it has been standing so long that a complete strip and refresh is the only way to go with this one, to be safe. A truly lovely race bike with history. Comes with paddock stand. Pictures of frame and engine numbers on request.
