This beautiful 350cc Matchless has been completely rebuilt and restored to a high standard in G3 LC spec. The rebuild and restoration work was completed by a respected AMC singles man, well known in the trials world. The gearbox is apparently a Maurice Hocking modified trials cluster (as found in many local bikes) and we’ll know if it is by the tall top gear and close first and second. The bike has hardly been used since the restoration which cost about the same as the asking price. Looking at the pictures (it has yet to arrive here) it’s a first class job and talking to the long-term owner (it was his father’s before) it has come from a good home. The only thing I can pick up on is the non-matching rims; one chrome and one alloy flanged; although this doesn’t detract from the looks or functionality in any way. It’s a local bike to us here in Fleet so easy to get it here for viewing on request. G3 LC looks and a quality rebuild and resto for £6.5k? Surely not to be missed?

First registered on 23rd October 1959 and still bearing the original registration number which can be verified by an old RF60 Continuation Log Book and the V5C Registration Document, this is a 1960 model Matchless G3L and may indeed be the Competition model but further investigation is required to confirm this. The frame number is stated as 8901 and I am assured it is a factory stamp (awaiting picture to confirm) and it appears in both registration documents so the frame and registration are original and matching. The engine number doesn’t look like a factory stamped number to me (although I’d love to be proved wrong) and whilst it does appear in the V5C it doesn’t match the RF60 so this is most certainly not a matching numbers machine and it is priced accordingly. The bike will be recommissioned by Classic Bike Workshop prior to delivery and could be fitted with lights if requested for an extra charge.
