A rare and original 1979 V1000 Convert in exceptional largely unrestored condition. These are rare in any condition but to find one with so many original features and unmolested specification is quite exceptional. This low-slung relaxed tourer is mechanically sound and an absolute pleasure to ride anywhere due to the unique combination of two-speed torque converter (most people only use high gear anyway but that’s another debate) and linked disc brakes. It really re-defines the term “easy rider” in so many ways. Currently showing 47,750 km which is 29,670 miles which looks genuine and is nothing on a Guzzi engine and all the signs are that this one has been well looked after. The specification includes all the sought-after features of this model; spoked wheels with Borrani aluminium rims and Lafranconi chrome exhausts with original parts such as pannier frames, panniers and screen brackets all original factory parts (the screen is new). There is also a rear parking brake kit fitted to the side-stand which is something we’ve heard of but never seen before. Even the seat retains its original cover (even though it looks patched at the front – that’s exactly as the brochure shows it). Imported from Holland in 2016 by the first UK owner and only one since in the UK, a good customer of ours and he’s just put new Hagon shocks on the back and tidied it up to a very nice standard which is impressive without losing the patina of a well looked-after bike of a certain age. There is a good paperwork file which includes registration and import documents, a brochure and a rare instruction manual (very useful, it’s a strange and wonderful thing). It is registered as a Historic Vehicle for MOT and tax purposes, there are old MOTs on file. All in all the best we’ve seen and I can’t imagine a better automatic transmission experience than this charming old Guzzi.
