A lovely 500cc twin with an interesting history/provenance.

This machine is returning to stock soon, having been owned and improved with sympathetic improvements and light use for a few years by an experienced motorcyclist well known to CSB. Price to be confirmed on inspection on arrival but this is how it looked a couple of years ago…Factory records show this matching numbers Domi 88 was despatched on 14th May 1962 to the Agent/Dealership Patterson Simons of Kuala Lumpur and a Singapore registration book confirms it was registered there for ten years before being repatriated in 1972. It’s unusual and very desireable to have historic documents with a machine so well travelled, and the document file reveals this machine was imported through Chatham Naval Base on 28th March 1972, ironically having sailed on HMS Triumph. Not sure what Norton would have said about that! This suggests that the owner was in the forces; the imported being listed as Roger Smith from Oldham. What happened to the bike since then is unrecorded and it was found displayed in a shop by the last owner, who did a sympathetic cosmetic restoration and has applied for an age related registration number which is on it’s way. As you can see the paintwork is lovely, new spokes and chrome front rim, original Dunlop rear in less than perfect but original condition, tinware original and exceptionally good having been chromed while away and unexposed to the elements back home. Everything works and there are invoices attesting to the recent renovation, it’s MOTd and will be supplied ready for the road. The engine wasn’t rebuilt as part of the restoration so Classic Bike Workshop have rebuilt it completely so you have a quiet healthy engine ready to ride.
