A very very well preserved 1964 matching numbers Mountain Cub, imported from the USA and now registered in the UK. This machine has just had a full engine rebuild by the Classic Bike Workshop which included absolutely every bottom end bearing and seal and absolutely anything and everything that was showing signs of wear. It’s literally a new engine inside, and will need running-in accordingly. The best available parts were used throughout and lofts of Tiger Cub spares collectors were raided to get what was needed! While we were at it we put the rest back to standard T20 SM spec and completely re-wired the whole electrical system using a cloth-bound loom and installing electronic ignition. The original model would have had energy-transfer ignition which is OK for high-revving off-road antics but less than ideal for road use and it wouldn’t have had a battery. The conversion here is invisible but much more practical, with a modern electronic unit (full range of advance-retard) hiding behind the engine cover and a Motobatt battery hiding under a cover in the seat. The battery has an isolator switch hidden under the seat and the whole thing works perfectly without drawing attention to itself. The seat itself is a new replica but the fuel tank is original and looks like original paint! Original Dunlop chrome rims are in amazing condition; chrome is perfect; and so much of the bike suggests low use and/or good maintenance. Exported to Johnson Motors in California in 1964, well preserved and probably little used since, completely rebuilt and restored to original spec although not what you would call a restored bike. Just perfect for some easy UK green lanes or quiet back roads.
