A very special bike to me and has been a “keeper” up to now so a very reluctant sale, in fact I’m interviewing for ownership to be honest! Bought from a customer who became a dear friend at the start of my venture into the Classic Bike Dealership world and kept for all this time for that reason and for the fact that it shares my birth year (I know I’m not the only one). These are old pictures and the legshields have been removed (kept in as new condition) and we’ve done a few miles since, although not latterly so it will need some recommissioning before sale. There is a lovely history with this bike, some of which is explained in Matthew Vales book “Triumph Pre-Unit Twins” in which the bike and I feature. Originally supplied to the Essex Constabulary, it was bought and rebuilt/restored by Mike Berry in the early 1970s. He found his local dealer clearing out NOS pre-unit spares so much was new and all the police parts were replaced and the bike was converted to standard model spec. This explains the tank being of earlier design and the unbelievable condition of much of the tinware. I managed to get the original registration reinstated and at one time was riding it regularly, the highlight of which was winning the West Kent Run Gymkhana on it! Matching numbers, original registration, low miles since rebuild and restoration and well documented provenance including old log book, V5 and V5C. Ticking all the boxes and a pleasure to ride, will be sold recommissioned ready to ride, with the legshields fitted if requested.
