The 1961 model Bonneville is generally/arguably regarded as the one to have and this matching numbers example in concours condition is as good as we’ve ever seen. Old log books confirm not only engine and frame but also the registration is original. Rebuilt with a new old stock (NOS) crank and many new parts meticulously sourced and lovingly assembled, the engine had hardly if ever been run when we bought it. The known quality of the restorer’s work (other bikes we’ve had are testimony to that) and a thorough recommissioning at Classic Bike Workshop means the inside is as good as the outside. Very rare indeed. Even the wiring is factory standard and expertly done. Outside you can see; lots of stainless fittings and original parts abound, paintwork is superb and attention to detail is unusually high. It was rebuilt about twenty years ago and has been stored inside as part of a cherished collection until we fettled it to perfection and made it run as sweetly as it does now. The extensive technical evaluation and recommissioning is a matter of written and pictorial record and this bike is supplied as a perfectly working machine to ride or show. If it’s of interest the bike was supplied by Jim Sheehan in Bracknell, Berkshire, a local dealer to us and a famous name from the past. First registered on 27th March 1961 and stayed in the Bracknell/ Crowthorne/ Reading area for all it’s life. Notes hint that it was 750cc at one time long ago and it fell into a poor state over the years so a full restoration to standard specification is what she needed and what she got. You really don’t see them like this very often.
