Like a big blue FS1E, this charming and characterful two-stroke single was marketed as an 80 but is in fact a full 74cc. Not that it hangs about thanks to light weight and Yamaha’s mastery of the oil-injected two-stroke engine (no fuel mixing with Autolube). This particular example has been well restored and displayed in the main hall exhibits at Stafford’s international Classic Bike Show. Recently recommissioned for road use, it runs well and looks lovely as you can see. The recommissioning work included electrics and carburettor replacement parts and oil pump seals and gaskets to name a few. There is a collection of parts invoices and an MOT certificate running into 2021 but now expired (it doesn’t need one). There is also a collection of laminated show cards from period adverts of the time. The V5C shows it’s a UK machine first registered 11th October 1971 with matching numbers, although the engine fitted is of a different number. It’s so easy to start and ride it just put’s a smile on your face and will attract many admiring glances wherever you go.
