Low miles and owners UK 400 Four; very good mechanically.

An honest relatively unmolested UK machine in fine mechanical fettle having just had it’s first valve clearance adjustment in almost 40 years! In fact all the important bits are completely unmolested which is why the engine is so nice, and although it has a replica silencer and replacement seat cover it does retain so many original parts and features; under the seat for instance. So if the good news is 23k miles and one owner since 1978 (2 former keepers on V5C) what’s the bad news? Scrapes on the downpipes and the rear footpegs have been removed to fit home-made frame mounted footrests (now removed). We will replace the swing arm with a correct part, painted and fitted with the correct footrests. The tank is lovely inside but dented on the outside and has some small chips touched up by hand. The side panels are original but faded and the right one is cracked. Chrome and paint is generally excellent though so it’s a mixed bag. Better than a restored one we think though. Really.
