Seen and heard at the 2011 Thundersprint, Denis “Jenks” Jenkinson’s bike can be bought here or at Bonhams Stafford Sale October 2013.

On 15th November 1974 Denis Jenkinson; AKA Jenks (yes, THE Jenks); bought a brown 1973 Honda CB500 Four from his friend David Dixon (yes, THE David Dixon of Dixon Racing) and used the bike on the local roads and all over Europe for his own riding pleasure. He is remembered locally on this bike in it’s original form, but Jenks had a vision to create a hillclimb/ sprint bike in the style of the famous Gilera four cylinder racers. He got so far with it and like so many projects it never quite made it to completion. After he died, one of Jenks’ local friends; an ace engineer and restorer; had the bike and recently finished the job; true to Jenks’ vision. Frankly it’s the perfect Jenks bike, offensively loud and distinctly red. I never knew him myself but read the books and hear the local stories, and I think he’s been done proud.  I value the man and the local history very highly but this bike is priced to sale with such provenance.
